What is 'BYOD'?
“Bring your own device” (BYOD) refers to students bringing a personally-owned device to school for the purpose of learning. A personally owned device is any technology device brought into the school (excluding mobile phones) and is owned by a student or the student’s family. Freeman students will be asked to bring their own laptop or tablet to school. These devices will need to meet the strict specifications set out by SCS and Freeman. BYOD is designed to give you freedom to make technology choices that suit you and your circumstances.
With the end of the 'Digital Education Revolution' and SCS ceasing funding for notebook computers in 2017, Freeman needs to ensure that the gains made from being a 1:1 school continue into the future. In Years 11 and 12 a number of students already bring their own devices to school and are already using them in class to enhance their learning and we are looking to build upon this success.
